Are they really telling us the truth?

So here is the situation, it seems there was this spy satellite that was launched in December 2006. Well just within a few hours after being launched it failed to work and became uncontrollable and now it should return to earth sometime tonight (02/20/08). On this satellite is some very toxic fuel (or so they say), so the United States has decided to try to shoot it down before it enters the atmosphere. All of this is being done so the toxic fuel won’t contaminate the area where it lands. Another part to this story is that Russia & China are upset with us for wanting to shoot the satellite down; it seems they believe it is nothing more then our way of testing our defensive missile system. I think China forgot that they shot a satellite with a laser a few months back, but no one is talking about that.

I have been reading about this story and trying to follow it in the media, and even on a few blog sites. The thing that amazes me is the countless number of theories and conspiracies that have popped up all over the place. It seems that the most common theory or conspiracy going around is that Russia & China are right, we are testing our missile defense system and that the story about the toxic fuel is just a cover story. Now, this theory or conspiracy does have one very good supporting question. The question is very simple; the fuel on this satellite is the same type of fuel that is used on the shuttle. So, if the fuel is that toxic, then why was nothing said (or done) about the fuel on both the shuttle accidents? My understanding is that both the shuttle and the satellite use the same fuel and the only difference is that the shuttle carries 5 times the amount, yet nothing was ever said about the toxic fuel on both shuttles accidents.

Now let me stop right here and say this, I AM NOT! a person that believes in “grand conspiracies”. I do believe that there are conspiracies on a much smaller scale, like when 3 or 4 people conspire to rob a bank or blow up a building, etc. The reason I don’t believe in what I call “grand conspiracies” is because there are way too many people involved to keep it quiet. Someone down the road is going to slip up or get mad and spill their guts. Think about it, this type of thing involves everyone from the very top all the way down to the janitor who may have heard or even seen something while he was cleaning. Also, I don’t care what anyone says the government CAN NOT!! Silence everyone; the word will get out in time. In short, I believe this is nothing more or less then what they said it was.

With that said, I will tell you this, even though I don’t believe in conspiracies I do like to read about them. I find them to be very interesting in some case and even more amusing in other cases. So, all you conspiracy people out there here is your big chance. I really want to here from you; I want to here what your conspiracy theories are about in regards to this satellite story. I would like to here what you think and why you think it’s all a big conspiracy. My only rule is this; your conspiracy theory must be about this topic only, NO ! JFK or Black helicopters stuff, just the topic at hand. As for those of you who are like me “Non- conspiracy” types I also want to here from you as well. I want to know why you don’t think it’s a big conspiracy. So everyone please let your voice be heard and tell everyone what you think and why you think that way when it comes to this topic.

Ok Mr. Politician Listen up!

Well it’s that time again when everyone who wants to be President starts campaigning. Both the Republicans & the Democrats, and even those in the middle want the highest office in the land. They will all tell you why you should vote for them and why you should not vote for the other person. They will all make long winded speeches that mean nothing and will make promises they don’t plan to keep. They will take every opportunity for a photo shot that will make them look good and take every chance to make the other guy look bad. Finely, they will all do the one and only “Political Tap Dance” This is the one thing that they are all the masters of and there is no equal anywhere in the world today (Look out “Dancing with the stars”).

Well Listen up Mr. Politician! There are a few things I and I think the average Joe out there would like to see changed if you want my vote. First, let’s stop the mud slinging. I am tired of you wasting my time and tying up the air waves and TV time with this garbage. I don’t want to hear you telling me that your opponent did drugs or slept with someone other then his wife, and because of that they have no moral standing. I also don’t want to here why you think your opponent’s ideas are stupid or how it will destroy health care or the economy; I am an adult and can decide that for myself. This two year old style of behavior (He hit me, so I hit him) has to stop. I for one am tired of it and think that the average American is too.

Next, stop wasting the public’s time by telling everyone what the problems are. Stop telling us we need to do this or that and that the economy is in trouble. I for one am tired of hearing you tell us that we need to bring our troops home or we need to leave them there. Stop telling us that the health care system is in trouble and the Social security system is going down the toilet. We know what the problem is, you have told us this over & over for years. We are not hard of hearing we got it the first time. In stead, tell us what you’re going to do to solve the problem. Don’t just say I can fix the problem; tell us how you can fix it. We might not like what you have to say, but you will be far ahead of your opponents who will tap dance around the issues.

Finely, enough with the “Political Tap Dance”, this is not dancing with the stars. Don’t avoid the questions asked, by asking a question or giving us some kind of mumbo jumbo that no one could understand and says nothing. Remember, just answer the question and if you don’t know what the answer is then say so. If the question is “How are you going to fix the economy?” And your answer is to lower taxes and cut spending in areas of public safety, then say so. Some of us might like what you have to say and other won’t. That’s what America is all about, the freedom to choose. In short, have the courage of your convections and standby your answers. People have more respect for someone who is willing to standby what they say and say what they mean. Remember, we are not as stupid as you might think, and we can tell when you are avoiding the question.

In conclusion, just give us the straight answer without all the fluff and garbage that you politicians seem to think we need to hear. And please remember we are not grade school kids we do understand and we just want to know what you are going to do to make things better. If you as a politician would take these simple things to heart, you might get elected without much trouble.
