$1.50, $2.50, $3.50, $4.50, $5? What are you going to do?

Before I get started with this personal thought of I mine, let me say this. This is not an article that is out to slam the oil companies; there is enough of that already. Now, with that out of the way, let’s get started. I don’t believe there is anyone out there that would argue that the price of gas is getting totally out of control, but there is not much we can do right now to stop it, short of what some are trying to do already. But that’s not where I really want to go with this. What I want to know is what are you going to do to cut back this summer? Have you had to change your plans because of the price of gas? Are you not going to go anywhere or are you going to try to stay close to home? Remember, as the price of gas goes up, so does the price of everything else. What about pick nicks that you may have planned? Are you going to have a few less stakes and more hot dogs and burgers? I guess the big question is this, Where have you had to cut back this summer?

As for me and my family, we have had to cancel a trip to California to see family. The cost of driving, flying or anything else has gotten to be too expensive. We have had to keep are plans closer to home like with in state. However, if gas were to get to $4.50 or higher, closer to home will get a lot smaller. As for food, well gone are things like star bucks coffee, and we are eating out a lot less. When we have BBQ’s it ends up being more like a pot luck dinner with everyone bring something to share. Stakes are almost nonexistent and chicken is starting to be the most popular thing on the grill. As for leftovers, well let’s just say that leftovers don’t stick around as much as they used to. Beside when you are trying to save everywhere and anywhere you can, you become very creative with the things you can do with your leftovers. Some other things that we are doing to save, we know are buying more generic bands and less name brands, and the biggest thing that we have started doing is less trips into town . We know plan our trips and try to keep thing to one or two trips into town a week. If we have to be at a doctor’s appointment then we also try to do a shopping then as well, and gone are the days of going into town just to look around at things we are not going to get right now. There are a lot of other things we could be doing to save on the cost of gas and as gas gets higher and higher we may have to start doing those as well. One thing is for sure if gas gets to $4.50 or higher we wont be going anywhere except to get groceries and to go to church.

So now you know a little bit of what I am doing to save on the cost of gas and know it is your turn. I want to know what you are doing to save on the cost of gas. Are you going on vacation still or are you going to stay near home? What have you had to cut back on and how has the price of gas effected you? So please share with everyone, who knows you might have an idea that someone else may not have thought of.

John McCain for President in 2008

OK, here it is. For all of you who have asked me who I wanted for president, I want John McCain. The reasons are simple, 1: Hillary is dangerous for this country, 2: Barack is even more dangerous. That's it plain and simple. I think this country would be better off if he were in office other then those other 2 bozo's. To be totally honest I really don't like any of them, however I feel McCain is the lesser of the 3 evils.

So lets here it, why am I wrong (or right) and who are you going to vote for?

Handcuffed man trys wild west escape.

Well this one has the Darwin Awards & worlds stupidest Criminal award all rolled up in one. I can't even Imagine what was going through this brain dead criminals mind. What this guy did was to try to do something you see in old western movies and dive out the window while hand cuffed and try to escape. The only problem was he was on the 3rd floor of the court house in Denver Colorado. Below is a copy of the article as it appeared on the Channel 7 news web site at www.thedenverchannel.com

Police: Cuffed Man Jumps From 3rd-Floor Court Window

Incident Happened At Denver's City & County Building

POSTED: 11:21 am MDT May 7, 2008
UPDATED: 3:26 pm MDT May 7, 2008

A man appearing before a Denver judge at the City & County Building knocked out a glass window with his head and jumped from the third floor Wednesday morning, police said.Josephus Haynes, 41, landed on a metal grate on the north side of the building but was quickly recaptured. He was seriously injured and was taken to Denver Health Medical Center in an ambulance. His condition was not immediately released. Haynes was appearing on misdemeanor assault charges in Court 316-R, where Judge Doris Burde was presiding. He was handcuffed and shackled and at the podium when he head-butted the window and jumped face-first, according to police. The incident happened at about 10:30 a.m.It's not clear whether Haynes was trying to escape or commit suicide.

In conclusion, I guess if your going to try to escape by jumping through a window, you should make sure your on the first floor. This guy gets my vote for a Darwin Award and I just talked to a guy who calls him self Ranger 1 and he said "Good I hope he felt it and learned something". All I can say to that is you have to have a Brain in order to feel anything or even learn something. This guy apparently didn't have one, what a moron.

"Inmate Greeting Cards" Find that perfect card for that perfect Citizen.

I am not sure where to even start with this one; I was looking around for some bizarre news stories for my live show on Friday when I came across this story. It seems that an attorney has found an untapped market and is now making some extra money filling that market. What is this market you may ask? “Greeting Cards for Inmates”, yes you heard it right. Attorney Terrye L. Cheathem has formed a company call “Three Squares Greetings”. Some of the cards are kind of funny and Ms. Cheathem said in another article that she did not do this to be funny and when she finds someone laughing at one of the cards, all she can think of is “you don’t have a loved one or someone you know behind bars”. Below is one of the articles I found about “Three Squares Greetings”

Company Sells Greeting Cards for Inmates

Saturday, 29 March 2008
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Finding it hard to express just the right sentiment to
your loved one in prison? A Los Angeles company may have the answer.
Attorney Terrye L. Cheathem noticed a market Hallmark wasn't serving and
founded Three Squares Greetings, which provides cards for inmates. "With
more than 2.5 million people incarcerated in the Unites States today, I saw that
there was a tremendous need," she said. Some express simple good wishes: "We are
all praying for you while you do your time."But most show a tougher sort of
love.A Christmas greeting partly reads: "You had the choice to be 'naughty or
nice.' And you chose ... Oh well, now you have to do your time."Cheathem said
she came up with the cards when her brother-in-law served 11 months in
prison. She said she went searching for the appropriate greeting card, but
couldn't find what she was looking for."There weren't any cards on the shelf
that said anything like, 'Hey, you must make better choices,'" she said. Cheathem
designs and writes the cards and sells them online and at a handful of stores
across the nation."This is one product no one wants to receive and no one
wants to buy, but if you need it, it's there," she said.Information from: Inland
Valley Daily Bulletin, http://www.dailybulletin.com

In conclusion, I know there are some inmates that are in jail for small stupid things and have no intention of ever going back to jail and are really going to work to change, but those are the few. For most inmates jail & prison are a way of life and for them I would not waste my time or money sending them a greeting card to make them feel good. As for the ones who are really working to change, ok maybe. I would encourage you to check out some of her cards at her web site www.threesquaresgreetings.com , they are pretty good. With that said I want to here from you. If you could write a greeting card for an inmate what would you write? Please remember to keep it clean & legal or it won’t be published. By the way am I the only one who noticed Terrye's last name "Cheathem".
