Well Black Friday has come & gone. I had a chance on my way to work today break a rule I have always followed on black Friday and that was to stay away from all the madness that went on at stores all over the place. I have always tried to stay away from the self centered morons that would run over others just to be the first to get something for next to nothing. I have never understood why anyone would want to get up at 3 in the morning or even camp out at the entrance to a store, like these people did at the Micro Center in Denver.
When I arrived at the store to see what kind of deals they had, I thought they would have opened at 5 AM like most stores (or even earlier). But, I was wrong they did not open until 7 AM and there was already a very long line. I thought What drives these people to wait this long in the cold for something they may not have or will break just about the time the warranty runs out. But this was not the biggest question on mine mind.
What I really want to find out was How many people would really be out spending their money with an economy that was not doing very well. Most of the people I got to talk to told me they would be cutting back a lot this year because they just did not have the money they had last year to spend. After I left Micro Center I made a quick stop by Wal-Mart just to see how busy they would be. However when I got th
ere, what I saw was a Wal-Mart that was no more busy then any other day of the week or year for that matter. The people just where not there, at least not at this store. I talked to a few people at work and they said the same thing, there just was not that many people shopping like last year. They also said that the deals that some of the stores had was not as good as last year. Hmm I wonder why? Even on my way home as I passed several stores and even a factory outlet mall , they all seemed to be a little void of holiday shoppers. Will this be the usual black Friday boom that retail hopes for? maybe, but then again maybe not.
So here is my question for you. Did you go out into the madness? and if you did why and was it worth it? What did you see? was it crowded or was it empty and slow? Tell me and the other readers about your trip into the “Black Friday adventure”
