PC Shamefully invades the sports world!!

Well here is something that has got me so fired up; I am surprised that my computer is not on fire right now. That shameful thing known as “POLITICAL CORRECTNESS” has finally invaded the last safe place on earth “The world of sports” and unbeknownst to my self and probably most of you it has been going on for quite some time.

What got me to write about this was an article I read & a thing I heard about on the news. It Dealt with a Texas high school girls basketball team that beat another team 100 to 0. Now the teams involved are not what I want to talk about. What I want to talk about is the reaction from this winning team. Some of the things I read said it was shameful and should not have been allowed. Kyle Queal who is the head of the school said

"It is shameful and an embarrassment that this happened," Kyle Queal, the head of the school, said in a statement, adding the forfeit was requested because "a victory without honor is a great loss."

The school also apologize to the other school for winning.

"We humbly apologize for our actions and seek the forgiveness of Dallas Academy, TAPPS and our community."

What on earth are we teaching our kids? When we tell them that it’s ok everyone is a winner even though they just lost is just plain wrong. In the real world there are winners & losers, that’s real life. Yet, in schools and even in sports and recreation departments we don’t allow our kids to play to their full strength. By holding them back and telling them it’s not far to score that high, we take away what sports really is, competition with Winners AND Losers.

Ask yourself this question, What would the pro sports world be like if the referees and coaches held their players back or told their players not to score any more points because we don’t want the other team to feel bad? Just imagine if the NFL told a team you can’t score any more points because they had to many point as it is. Football would be very boring. What about pro basket ball, hockey, NASCAR, and even Boxing.

There is something very wrong when we hand out trophies to kids who place dead last in some kind of sports event. By doing this we teach our kids that there is no such thing as a winner in sports and that if you lose, you still will get something. When you tell a winner that every one get an award just for being there, you teach him not to try as hard as he can because it don’t mean anything. As for the loser, you teach him the same thing. he doesn’t have to try because every one wins, so there is no reason to better him self.

In conclusion, Let me say this, It is ok to feel bad for the losing team, but not to the point that you have to say your sorry for winning. If we do that, then what we are really saying is sorry you not good enough to beat us, and that is just as bad. If we teach our kids the “POLITICAL CORRECT” way to do things we rob them of just a small peace of what the real world is like and teach them to live in a world that is not real.

FOLLOW UP:

Shortly after this game the coach Micah Grimes was fired for not apologizing. The coach was quoted in the Chicago Tribune as saying:

"In response to the statement posted on The Covenant School Web site, I do not agree with the apology or the notion that the Covenant School girls basketball team should feel embarrassed or ashamed," Grimes wrote in the e-mail, according to the newspaper. "We played the game as it was meant to be played. My values and my beliefs would not allow me to run up the score on any opponent, and it will not allow me to apologize for a wide-margin victory when my girls played with honor and integrity."

The tribune went on to say:

Grimes, who has been criticized for letting the game get so far out of hand, made it clear in the e-mail Sunday to the newspaper that he does not agree with his school's assessment.

I for one think it is very shameful for the school to fire this coach. He did nothing wrong and should have never been fired. The shame and embarrassment should be on the school for firing this coach. Way to go coach, I applaud you for standing up to what is right. Here is a School coach that gets it.

ME vs. YOU

Here’s the situation, You live in a very nice apartment on the third floor, complete with a really nice balcony over looking the tantrum_boycity. Today is a hot day so you decided to open the sliding glass door to your balcony for some fresh air. At the same time your neighbor (Just below you) has his balcony door open as well. However, your neighbor is a big time smoker and his smoke is drifting up into your apartment and you are not a smoker. Now he has every right to smoke all he wants in his apartment, just as you have every right not to smoke or smell it. Now you could go down and ask him to close his window, but then why should he have to close his window? The same could be said for you as well.

Now this is not an article about smoking (that might come later down the road). This is an article about Peoples rights and where one persons rights end an another persons rights start. So many time we here people crying like babies about their rights, They scream and cry about how they have the right to do this or that and how no one has the right to tell them they can’t do that. Yet, those on the other side of the argument have as much rights has anyone else. Here is another example, You decide to have a pool party at the apartment were you live. you do everything you need to do to have the party. Now everyone is at the party and you have good music and food. things are a little bit loud, but not unreasonable. yet the other people are complaining, some about the noise, others about the smoke from the BBQ, etc. Or how about this one, you are talking to a friend about Christmas while you are in the cry-babybreak room at work and someone over hears you and the next thing you know you are standing in front of your boss and he is telling you that you can’t talk about Christmas. And lets not forget the Non Christians that love to say that Christians have no right being in politics.

Here is how I see it. All the little cry babies that scream and cry about their rights, do this for one big reason. they are SELF CENTERED SPOILED LITTLE BRATS! Everything is about them, and they feel everything centers around them. What in it for me? what do I loose? I want what’s owed me, I want it now. I have the right to all of this. I think if we all worried a little less about our own rights and started think just a little bit about others, we would find that we still have all our rights and a whole lot less tension and worry about what we don’t have. By giving a little and taking a little we would not have to worry about what we don’t have and we would not have to work so hard to keep what we do have.

Show it or hide it, you decide

Tattoos The other day I went into a McDonald's here in Denver to get something for lunch. The young kid that waited on me was very nice and polite; however I had one problem with him. He had enough parts of his body pierced he could have set off an airport metal detector from a mile away. Then there were all the tattoos. Even though he spoke English, he was very hard to understand with the metal stud in his tongue which looked like it was the size of a pencil. Now I have no problem with piercings and tattoos, if you want to get them, fine go ahead. However, I do have a problem with it when it comes to cretin types of businesses. If you work in a business where you have a lot of contact with the public, like food service, retail, security, police, and emergency services just to name a few, you should have to hide it. If it’s one thing I have a hard time with, it's when I come to a place to eat and there is a employee there with more metal on them then my entire truck has, or there is an employee waiting on you and he has so many tattoos on him that you end up reading what’s on him then what’s on a menu. Over all, I feel this is very unprofessional.

So here is my question for you, should an employer be allowed to tell an employee that they need to cover up tattoos and remove their piercings while they are at work? What about applicants? Should an employer be allowed not to hire some one because they have too many piercings or tattoos? I work in the security field and one of the requirements for all officers is, you must cover up all tattoos and remove all piercings. 1864_Body-piercing_400 I believe that as an owner of a business you should have the right to tell your employees to cover it up and you should have the right to not hire someone who looks like something out of a horror movie. Now if you work in a call center, a factory, construction, etc. and your bosses don’t care, then fine do what you want. I still think that if you have more metal on your body then my truck has all together, then you have too much. As for tattoos, if you have so many that people look more at the tattoos and never here anything you have to say because the tattoos scream out at you, then you have too many. Over all I don’t feel that this sets a very professional look for any businesses that have a lot of contact with the public.
